Our Mission

We are a 501(c) organization dedicated to providing toys and other care items to childhood cancer patients undergoing treatment. Based out of Atlanta, we support metro-area hospitals by delivering items like movies, video games, toys, and gift cards.

100% of all donations go directly into supporting families confronted by childhood illness.

We work with families, hospitals and other charitable organizations to provide toys to kids undergoing intensive medical treatments. We know the positive impact simple comforts can make in tough times.

Donations go directly to items like toys, movies, and video games for pediatric oncology centers to give to patients. We also give out things like gift cards and vouchers for entertainment and family outings.

We hold motorcycle rides, brunches, auctions, and other events each year. Everything we do comes with the help and support of local businesses and community organizations that we appreciate so much.

Who we are: Joey’s Toy Box is a local 501(c)(3) whose mission is to provide comfort and support to the children and families engaged in the battle of Childhood Cancer. We accomplish this mission of love by providing toys, games, gaming systems, Xbox games, DVD’s, arts, crafts, Essential Oils and any other item the Child Life Specialist or Social Workers request. Each year we pick at least 4 Childhood Cancer families and provide their entire Christmas. Mom and Dad give us their children’s Christmas List and we do all the work. Each child in the family received at least 3 gifts from their wish list. Mom & Dad receive a gift too. Whatever we can do to ease some of the strain on the parents or children, we strive to do . We have provided several families with new beds, photo shoots, hospital proms, shopping sprees, a week at Great Wolf Lodge, trips to the Atlanta Zoo or the Georgia Aquarium, computers, and even a dog run so that a family did not have to give away their dog due to chemo related restrictions. We have NO paid employees. Everything we do is done by our amazing volunteers. So far Joey’s Toy Box has identified over 30 children in Coweta and Fayette Counties who are either engaged in the battle, fought the battle or have lost their battle of Childhood Cancer.

Two weeks ago I received an email from one of our Child Life Specialists, included in her wish list was Essential Oils. Of course I raised an eyebrow and asked a few questions. One of their patient families had donated a few samples oils. They were a huge success and they quickly ran out. They were wondering how they could get more oils donated so they reached out to Joey’s Toy Box. Yesterday Joey’s Toy Box and our DoTerra Consultants, headed to Scottish Rite armed with Essential Oils and taught their Child Life Specialist how to use the oils. Today we did the same thing at Egleston. Joey’s Toy Box will now make sure that they always have a supply of oils on hand. These kids are given so much medication, it’s so exciting to know that we are going to be able to add a natural tool to their arsenal of medication. We are looking forward to teaching the patients, families, nurses and doctors all the uses of Essential Oils. We are already planning on going back up to make diffuser bracelets, necklaces, roller balls and my personal favorite, play dough with the kids. ❤️ Thank you so much to our doTerra consultants, Meghan Huff Grantham, Joy Lynn Tarpley and Tanya Campbell McWilliams for helping us with this new journey! And of course we took toys too!

“Childhood Cancer, unfortunately, remains the deadliest killer of our children “ - Representative Michael McCaul (R-TX) One Step Closer! It amazes me that in 2018 there has not been a Pediatric Oncologist on the Board at the National Cancer Institute, no wonder Childhood Cancer is so underfunded. But then again I remember how hard we fought just to get a GHSA approved “Gold Out” in East Coweta High School. Childhood Cancer directly effects our schools. With 2 more children being diagnosed in Coweta Country in the last couple of weeks, we would love to see our county schools recognize September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month!

White Oak Elementary, Spirit of Joey Award goes to... Ryan M. Here are a few words written by his teacher about Ryan: I am nominating this student because of the endless ways he offers support and encouragement to everyone at White Oak. He is kind to all and puts others first on a regular basis. He always offers to help peer tutor, help me run an errand, lend a positive word of encouragement to those in need, or really just help anyone in his path. His caring heart and natural instinct to help his classmates and teachers make him one of the most loving, fun, well-rounded children in the 5th grade this year. When I think of the Joey Doolittle Award, I think of kindness, generosity, selflessness, empathy, humility, and friendship. Ryan demonstrates all of these characteristics DAILY. He always wears a smile, and always has a positive look on his face. His sweet personality lights up the Rutledge Room and makes it shine daily! He never expects recognition for his acts of kindness and hard work. Congratulations Ryan!! Oh, the Places You Will Go!!!

About us

JTB was founded by our son, Joey Doolittle. Joey was a lifelong cancer warrior who was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma at only 3 months of age. Throughout Joey's life, he underwent numerous chemotherapy protocols, surgeries, and radiation treatments. Toys provided by the hospitals always seemed to make his treatments a little more bearable. During the twilight of Joey's young life, when he was the sickest, he decided to conduct a fundraiser to raise money to buy the other kids at the hospital toys. On June 7, 2008, Joey raised $1,800 by organizing a "cycle-a-thon" at a local gym in Peachtree City, GA. A few days later, Joey made his first and only delivery of toys to the AFLAC Children's Cancer Center at Scottish Rite hospital in Atlanta. On July 4, 2008, after a lifetime battle against cancer, Joey peacefully passed away in his mother's arms.

Joey's impact on his family, friends, and other childhood cancer patients continues to evolve and flourish. His simple dream of helping the other kids and their families continues to live on because of the incredible community of volunteers that have felt Joey in their hearts. With no paid employees, we are a 100% volunteer army dedicated to the JTB mission. We operate this way so that we can put every dollar towards helping these kids and their families. We have dedicated ourselves to being good stewards of the money, time, and efforts of our volunteer community. We will continue Joey's mission with the compassion and integrity that he had when he started it... simple as that.
